Appliance software upgrades

A signed appliance patch path exists as engineering groundwork (Ed25519-signed patch bundles with tamper- and wrong-target refusal, a pre-patch backup, and rollback) — validated at dev scale, not yet a self-serve customer product. Do not expect a console button or a documented one-command upgrade you run yourself.

Coordinate version changes with Residion. Treat host OS patching as your responsibility unless a separate agreement says otherwise.

Documentation updates for air-gapped sites

  1. Residion publishes a new offline docs zip matching the appliance docs version (see versioning in the repository README).
  2. Replace the extracted bundle on the appliance.
  3. Verify search still works offline.

Groundwork present, but not a self-serve customer product

  • Encrypted backup / restore — exists as tooling with a verified restore drill (dev scale); not a customer-operated product feature.
  • Infrastructure monitoring — an optional, zero-egress monitoring profile exists (dev scale); not a managed customer feature.

Genuinely not available

  • Multi-node clustering, HA, and rolling upgrade — not built.

Where a feature is "groundwork," it means the engineering is real and demonstrable but Residion operates it — there is no customer self-serve product surface for it yet.
